Nathalie has always been fascinated by canine behaviour, and has spent years studying dog communication and canine social behaviours.
Before starting her dog training journey, Nathalie obtained a Bachelor's degree in Social Science with a major in Criminology and Psychology from the University of Ottawa. Shortly after gradutation, she began her journey in dog training. She completed multiple professional dog training programs in order to gain as much knowledge as possible. The most recent school she attended focused on positive reinforcement training approach , which really allowed her to flourish as a dog trainer. She has learnt a great deal from experienced trainers while working alongside them.Â
Nathalie has also volunteered at the Ottawa Humane Society as a Canine Behavioural Intervention volunteer. She fostered and trained dogs having behavioural issues to increase their chances of adoption.Â
While attending dog training workshops, she discovered a canine sport that absolutely fascinated her. Canine scent detection quickly became a passion of hers, and eventually led her to a career in the field.
Nathalie is currently employed with Orkin Pest Control as a fully certified K9 Handler with the task to lead and develop their K9 Detection Team in the Ottawa area. Upon starting this new and exciting career, she got sent to a training facility to undergo scent detection training with a seasoned trainer, which allowed her to work with multiple dogs trained in bedbug detection. After completing the training program, she got matched with her new K9 partner and got sent home to start their new career together.Â
Nathalie and her working dog named Stella continue to work side by side for this pest control company. But that's not all Nathalie does nowadays! She truly loves using her knowledge and experience to help people gain a better understanding of the dogs they live with and help them lead happy lives together.
